CHARLOTTE – Former Panthers wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. announced his retirement on Friday.
Drafted by Miami in 2007, Ginn played 14 seasons in the NFL including three in Carolina (2013, 2015-16), posting 2,047 receiving yards and 19 receiving touchdowns, ranking sixth in franchise history in receiving touchdowns.
He had a hand in a number of memorable plays during Carolina’s three-year playoff stretch. He had a 25-yard game-winning touchdown with under a minute left against the Patriots on Monday Night Football in 2013. He also helped open the floodgates in the 2015 NFC Championship with his 22-yard scamper across the field for a touchdown in the first quarter.
Ginn’s 88-yard touchdown at Oakland in 2016 is still tied for the third-longest receiving touchdown in franchise history.
Known for his top-level speed and vertical ability, Ginn averaged 15.3 yards per catch, ranking third in franchise history.
Along with Carolina, Ginn spent time in Miami (2007-09), San Francisco (2010-12), Arizona (2014), New Orleans (2017-19) and Chicago (2020).
