City of DuPont Deputy Chief of Police Ted DeHart has announced his retirement effective August 31st, 2021. Deputy Chief DeHart was appointed as the Deputy Chief in May 2019 after 27 years with the Washington State Patrol (WSP), departing there as a sergeant.

“We were very lucky to have Ted join our team as he was leaving WSP in 2019,” said DuPont Police Chief Doug Newman. “Over the past two years, Ted was instrumental in the successful achievement of numerous, major strategic projects. These initiatives – too many to list – were invaluable in the positive advancement and evolution of DPD. Ted was absolutely the right person at the right time, and we were privileged that he decided to join our team when he did. He has served this city with honor and distinction, and we wish him and his family all the best success and happiness in his long-awaited retirement from law enforcement. He will be missed.”
